Anthony Dowell was admitted as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants on 12 March, 1979, after completing a Bachelor of Commerce degree at the University of New South Wales in 1975. Anthony was born in Sydney and attended Waverley College. He joined Deloittes in January 1976 and completed his professional year there.

Anthony is married with two children and resides at Seaforth. He is a member of Cromer Golf Club. He actively follows Cricket and AFL.

Anthony is a registered company auditor and is registered with the Australian Securities & Investments Commission
